Governments and industry leaders now work hand-in-hand to create policies that benefit both the industry and local communities. This collaborative approach ensures that regulations are practical, effective, and aligned with the needs of all stakeholders.

The implementation of stringent regulatory frameworks, such as the Kimberley Process, has dramatically reduced (or nearly eliminated) the flow of conflict diamonds and promoted ethical practices throughout the industry.

Global cooperation has led to the establishment of internationally recognized standards for diamond grading, ethical sourcing, and responsible business practices, creating a more transparent and trustworthy industry.

Governments in diamond-producing countries are increasingly leveraging their natural resources to drive broader economic development, investing diamond revenues into infrastructure, education, and healthcare.

Before diamonds were discovered as a natural resource in the country of Botswana, there were only six miles of paved roads in the country. In 1966, De Beers discovered diamonds in Botswana leading to the 50/50 joint venture of the natural resource between the leading mining company and the democratically-elected government. Today, there are over 6,000 miles of paved roads.
